CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR)

As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility, PES and members dedicate time and effort into assisting the needy. Here are some of the CSR projects that we have been involved with:

2016
29 April 2016 : Donation of RM3,000 each to Cheshire Home & Bukit Harapan
On April 29th 2016, Persatuan Elektrik Sabah (PES) donated Rm3,000 each to Cheshire Home & Bukit Harapan, by using the funds which was generated from the 2nd Charity Golf Tournament organised by PES in January 2016.

A group comprising of PES committee members and 1st Lady led by President Mr. Teh Bung Nee paid a visit to the sabah Cheshire Home (Persatuan Ruman Amal Sabah) and Bukit Harapan Therapy Community, Madam Jennifer Liew, person-in-charge of Sabah Cheshire Home specially taking care of disabled children, abused children and also single and disabled women. Meanwhile Madam Audra Keyworthof is in-charge of the Bukit Harapan Therapy Community which provides shelter home for disabled children, abused children and also single and disabled women respectively.

The children who were well trained with various skills and talents to upkeep their minds and bodies, entertained us with a guitar and song performances.

17 June 2016 : Donation of RM3,000 to Yayasan Kebajikan Suria
On June 17th 2016, Persatuan Elektrik Sabah (PES) handed over RM3,000 to Yayasan Kebajikan Suria at Yayasan's office in Likas, with funds that were generated from the 2nd Charity Golf Tournament organised by PES in January 2016. PES was welcomed warmly by the Founder and Executive Chairman, Datuk Raya Erom. Among the committee present were President Mr. Teh Bung Nee, 1st Lady Jenny, Vide President Mr. Aldrin Wong and Secretary Mr. Roslan Bin Serin.

2015
25 Feb 2015 : Visit To Sabah Cheshire Home
On February 25, 2015 PES visited the Sabah Cheshire Home (  Persatuan Rumah Amal Sabah) located at Jalan Vokasional, Km 5, Off Jalan Turan,Likas,Sabah,88100 Kota Kinabalu. Sabah Cheshire Home Is a Registered, Private, Non-profit and Charitable Organization, which provides care for Persons with disabilities Irrespective of race, religion and culture working with them to help them to live independently, in promoting and implementation of independent living in exercising their rights. Inmate’s activities consist of skills training example Bakery and pastry making and Education.

PES donated some basic needs and Ang pow to all 55 Inmates. As the Chinese New Year celebration still going on, all the committee sang some songs to entertain them. We know that the inmates are so happy by seeing their smiley face while sang together with us.

We would like to give a special shout out and thanks to Madam Jennifer Liew for allowing us to visit Sabah Cheshire Home and also thanks to the staff for guiding us the entire way.
25 Feb 2015 : Visit To Seri Mengasih Centre
Seri Mengasih Centre is a special developmental centre located in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia providing a comprehensive range of training programmes for the intellectually and developmentally disabled and services for their families. The current enrolments for Seri Mengasih Centre are 128 students ranging from babies to young adults, and 25 staff. On February 25, 2015 we are very thankful to meet Ms. Jennifer as the person in charge for allowing and guiding us to interact more closely and warmly to all students as the students are all very friendly.

PES delivered Basic Needs and Ang Pow to all students and they look so happy. 25 Feb 2015 : Visit To Yayasan Kebajikan Suria
On the 25 of February 2015 PES has paid a visit and meets the Founder and Executive Chairman of Yayasan Kebajikan Suria -YBhg. Datuk Hajah Raya Erom at the Headquarters Office Tingkat Bawah, Lot 8, Taman Cempaka, Batu 4.5, Jalan Tuaran. In this visit PES had agreed to provide assistance to do some repairs and installation of electrical wiring at the Asrama.

The Asrama Kebajikan Suria is located at Kampung Panjut, Berungis, Tuaran. The Asrama were occupied by 57 inmates from the age of 7 to 17, consist of the less fortunate and orphans. Their daily activities are includes arts training, drawing, traditional dance and also once in a while will have a visit programs etc. on that occasion we have donated some basic needs and present Ang Pow for all the inmates.

26 Feb 2015 : Visit To Asmara Borombon, Kiulu
Asrama Borombon, Kiulu is one of the charity projects champion by PES and still ongoing. As usual every year PES must paid them a visit to them. It was on the 26 February, 2015 when PES visited them and it was 12 inmates who still staying there. PES delivered food and daily needs as well as Ang Pow to the children. They are also highly entertained with the Chinese New Year Song and some local song like Jambatan Tamparuli, sang by our committee members.

26 Feb 2015 : Visit Pusat Jagaan OKU Tolumis
After communicating and planning about 2 weeks with Madam Ching Mee as the founder of this Care centre, we finally had the opportunity to visit Pusat Jagaan OKU Tolumis on the 26 February 2015 at Jalan Lama Pantai Dalit, Kg.Dungang Tuaran. The full names of TOLUMIS is (Tolong Orang Lumpuh Menjadi Insan Sempurna), this Care Centre is rehabilitation for disabled managed by private individual, in 2008 there were 18 physically/mentally challenged children and adults under its care, currently occupied by 16 inmates. The routine activity of them is including physiotherapy as most of them were disable.

During the visit PES delivered some basic needs and Ang Pow to each of them. 04 March 2015 : Visit To Sabah Society For The Deaf
SSD is the SABAH SOCIETY FOR THE DEAF. It is a non-government charitable organisation in Sabah. It was founded in 1975. The aim is to promote the education, employment, general welfare of deaf persons and to prevent deafness in Sabah. This society helps to educate and teach them life skills so that they can live independence. Currently many of them were found employment at Kentucky Fried Chicken and almost all of them had proved to be good employees, there was also among them who could open own tailoring business, On 2nd May 1998, Rotary Club of Tanjung Aru handed over a full set of bakery equipment. Some deaf are now being trained to bake cakes, buns and bread with the bakery equipment.

The students were currently around 40 pax when we visited them on the 4 March 2015. PES gave donation amounting RM4, 000.00 to 40 students for a school retreat on the 7 & 8 March 2015, also give Ang Pow to the students. We were also got the opportunity to have a tour around the property.

2014
13 Feb 2014 : Visit Asrama Borombon, Kiulu
Social & Welfare Sub-Committee organized a charity visit to Asrama Borombon, Kiulu. Asrama home which is a before and after school for about 30 poor family children – aged between 7 – 17 years from Kampung Borombon, which is situated about 4 hours walking distance from Kiulu town is one of the Charity Project champion by PES and still ongoing. During the visit PES delivered food and daily needs to the children.
07 Sep 2014 : Visit To Yayasan Kebajikan Suria
PES President Mr. Teh Bung Nee and its Community & Service Sub-Committee Mr. Shah Fareed  visited the Yayasan Kebajikan Suria. The hostel was set up to provide shelter to orphans and the needy of which some are fatherless. They are a total of 32 inmates around the states, of which, 16 males and females each, between the age of 8 to 17. Daily expenses such as food, school supplies and other basic needs are borne by the Founder and Executive Chairman, Datuk Raya Erom as well as assisted by the State Department of General Services and contribution from the public.
2012
20 Sep 2012 : Palliative Care Unit
Palliative Care Association Kota Kinabalu (PCA), a non Government Charitable Organisation works in close collaboration with Palliative Care Unit (PCU) of Queen Elizabeth Hospital to provide seamless care to patients who are diagnosed with advance incurable cancers and end stage organ failure. Patients will be staying at the PCU until their symptoms are adequately controlled, then they will be discharged home to be follow up by PCA. 4 units of airconditioners at 16 bedded at PCU ward were not functioning for more then 6 months. In the present blazing hot weather, it is difficult for patients to find comfort resting in the ward.

PES committee members Mr. Foong June Choy and Mr.Lai Tet Vui together with PES President Mr. Woo Soo Poo was had a chance to visit the condition at PCU. PES afterward with so much pleasure had made an arrangement with PCA to give donate of some units of airconditioners and repairmen of some other unfunctioning units of airconditioners.
2010
16 Mar 2010 : Asrama Borombong, Kiulu
PES and its members contributes food supply and daily needs of the destitute children in Asrama Borombong, Kiulu. PES has also volunteered to help and eventually provided Asrama Borombong with electricity supply which they did not have till recently.
2004
25 Jul 2004 : Visit to Kota Marudu Orphanage, Tabunan Orphanage and Bundu Tuhan Orphanage, Ranau
PES Social & Welfare Sub-Committee organized a visit to Kota Marudu Orphanage, Tabunan Orphanage and Bundu Tuhan Orphanage with 5 committee members involved in this charity work.
26 Nov 2004 : PES Charity Golf Tournament
PES organized a Golf Tournament at the Karambunai Resort Golf Club inconjuction with a fun raising campaign for community and chairty projects. 90 people participated in this tournament.
2001
17 Aug 2001: Trip to SRJK Sacred Heart Tajau, Kudat
PES Social & Welfare Sub-Committee organized a trip to SRJK Sacred Heart Tajau, Kudat for the inspection of wiring works done by PES in April 2001.
2000
30 Jul 2000: Visit to the Don Bosco Bundu Tuhan Orphanage
PES Social & Welfare Sub-Committee organized a charity event with a visit to Don Bosco Bundu Tuhan Orphanage. PES donated used clothes, books, toys and cash, all contributed by PES members.
1999
19 Jan 1999: Association visit the Sabah Kidney Society
PES visit the Sabah Kidney Society and President, Mr Chung Ah Fook presented a donation fund contributed by PES members with the amount of RM3,000 to the Chairman of Sabah Kidney Society.
20 Jan 1999: Rewiring Work at SRJK Chung Hwa, Tamparuli
PES participated in a charity project by carrying out the rewiring works for SRJK Chung Hwa at Tamparuli. The works included to rewire 9 classrooms with new fluorescent lights, fittings, ceiling fans and distribution box which were contributed and installed by PES members.
